SMSC

SMSC stands for Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development. Learning in these areas is crucial in preparing young people for their role in society as a local, national and global citizen. At Greenfield we aim to help our students to:

• Develop and understand their own spiritual, personal and moral values and how these influence their daily actions
• Appreciate the spiritual, personal and moral values of others in order to play their part in society
• Make sense of the changing world in which we live
• Understand the range of social and cultural traditions in modern Britain and worldwide
• Access a wide range of cultural experiences and formulate their own responses whilst understanding other points of view
• Know and live the British values of democracy, rule of law, mutual respect and tolerance and individual liberty

SMSC is too far reaching to be confined to a single subject area but involves learning in and out of the classroom across the whole school.  We strive to ensure that all students have equal access to the range of opportunities which we offer.
