PSHE & RSE
At our school, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is an important part of helping children grow into confident, healthy, and responsible young people. Our aim is to give every child the knowledge and skills they need to build positive relationships, understand themselves, and make safe, respectful choices as they move through life.
Our RSE curriculum is carefully planned so that it is age‑appropriate and relevant. Children learn about friendships, families, growing up, keeping themselves safe, and understanding their own feelings. As they get older, they explore topics that help them prepare for the challenges of adolescence and adulthood. Throughout this learning, we encourage empathy, respect, and kindness.
We make sure children receive clear, accurate information and develop the ability to think critically about the world around them. This helps them make informed decisions about their health, wellbeing, and relationships. RSE also supports children to become more independent, recognise pressures or influences, and take responsibility for their own choices.
RSE covers the social, emotional, and physical aspects of growing up. It helps children understand diversity, equality, and consent, and ensures that every child feels valued and included—whatever their background, gender, or identity.
Children are encouraged to ask questions, explore real‑life issues, and reflect on their own experiences. RSE gives them space to think deeply, express their views, and develop confidence in who they are.
We weave RSE throughout school life—through lessons, assemblies, tutor time, and wider activities—so that key messages about respect, safety, and wellbeing are reinforced regularly and consistently.
